We have had some busy weeks. We found online a place to buy chickens as extra companions for our ¨Ladies¨. We decided we can handle more chickens, we sell eggs, and every day we are sold out. So let’s go and buy some more. First we added the neccecairy space to their inside room. we have plenty of room for more chickens, but the space needed to be prepared for them. But what was supposed to be simple became little different. It became a Chicken rescue. Are they okay?
How the Chicken rescue started
We went to Harnosand, about an hour drive from our farm. The car loaded with some travel boxes for save transportation. When we came to the location we went silent. A beautifull location, buit the chickens were in a not so good state. Allmost without any feathers, up till bleeding. they looked skinny, and not fed properly. Normaly you would not buy chickens from someone that has not taken good care fore their animals, but we simply could not leave them there. We ended up taking 20 of them in our car. They were quiet, too quiet in comparison to the other chickens we have. We rushed home, hopefully we can give them a better life as they had before.
Back at the House
At the house we started immeadiatly with feeding and water with lots of vitamines, biotine and more usefull ingrediants. They have to get the best we have, so the journey started. We have extended the outside area to approcimatly 250 square meter for our 40 chickens. split it to make sure they will all get alning in the future. The newbies are definatly not used to be outside, the have to check it out slowely. After the first few days, their eggs start to get a little color, also their combs starts to get more red and lively of colour.
The future
We have them now for little over a week, and it’s looking promissing. They look happier than before, and some of them are even growing some pfluffy feathers back. Ideal no, happy that we chose to take them with us, absolutely. We will keep you posted on the well being of our 40 chickens.
