What makes Sweden so Great to live in? Our Journey to Sweden – Part 7 – Before We Buy Our Swedish House

Today marked a very special milestone for us. The day we embarked on a new and exciting adventure. Today was the day that the house truly became our home— a moment we will cherish for the rest of our lives.
Before we buy our Swedish house

Soon we will buy our Swedish house. The alarm went off early this morning. It was still dark outside, but the sun was shining in our hearts.
We got ready for what would be a very beautiful, but long day.
Unfortunately, the weather forecasts were not good for all of Sweden. Heavy snowfall was expected everywhere, and as you may have read in our previous blog, our camper is fitted with summer tires. This unfortunately meant that we would go to the real estate agent at 10 o’clock and, after signing for the house, immediately start driving back home—another long journey of 2,000 km through bad weather. We knew it would be a very exciting day ahead.

We got dressed calmly, had breakfast, and gathered all the things we needed for signing the house documents and for the return trip to the Netherlands.
After that, we went into the house one more time.
The three of us really wanted to share one last moment together in what will be our future home. We brought our espresso machine from the Netherlands and symbolically placed it in the kitchen. The next time we return… we will be home.

We went over the final details together at the table—financial matters, our route back, securing the house, and leaving everything neat. We also left a note with some treats in the guest house for the person who would continue helping us while we are away.

We met a very kind person (we won’t mention any names), who will play a very important role in the coming months. This person helped us tremendously by keeping the house warm, clearing snow, checking that everything was okay, and sending us beautiful photos of our home while we were in the Netherlands. Thank you so much for all your help during that time!

After a cup of coffee, it was time to say goodbye to the house. The doors were closed, one last look back… and then it was time to head to Örnsköldsvik, where the real estate agent was waiting for us.

Here we go!
